Italian student Salvatore Boemi arrived in Scotland from Italy five years ago. Salvatore wants to pursue a career in journalism and decided that his best chance to do that was by living and studying in Glasgow. He attended City of Glasgow college where he did not speak English and had to meet new people and also adapt to a different culture. Five years on and Salvatore has graduated from City of Glasgow college and is now attending the University of West of Scotland.
Salvatore explains how university life has faired so far:
“I am enjoying the course because it is something that I have always wanted to do. I am feeling good and I am learning about the modules and also meeting new people so I am not complaining at all.!
Alongside Salvatore studying at UWS, he is also living in student accommodation. Due to the current pandemic, moving to a different area may be seen as a dangerous move.
Salvatore explains what it has been like living in student accommodation.
“So far I feel comfortable and safe. There is not much to do because of the coronavirus but I feel lucky because I am living with good flatmates but I feel that student accommodation is working well.”
Salvatore’s ambition is to pursue a career in sports journalism. With his Italian and Scottish roots, his career in sports journalism may be an interesting one!!!
