Scottish Pair make winning start

Scotland’s mixed double pairing Ciara Torrance and Adam Hall are in to the 2nd round of the Badminton Scottish Grand Prix after a comprehensive victory.

The pair defeated fellow scots Julie MacPherson and Martin Campbell 21-6, 21-18 in a comfortable 25 minute clash on Thursday at the Emirate Arena in Glasgow.

They move on to face the Dutch pair Robin Tabeling and Cheryl Seinen in the 2nd round on Friday.

The Scottish pair were pleased with the professional performance they put in in Glasgow;

“It feels great [being in the next round] but it’s never great playing your teammates out there

“There’s always a bit of banter but it’s always great to get the win” said Adam Hall

The youngest of the winning pair, Ciara Torrance spoke post-match about gaining as much experience as she can at this stage in her career;

“Because I’m younger I don’t really expect to win everything, but just focusing on playing well and playing our game”

The pair shared the same view about what they are looking for from the remainder of the tournament;

“We just want to put in a great performance, play our own game and see what we can do” Hall added.

The pair then looked towards one of their Scottish counterpart’s chances at this tournament;

“I’ve called Gilmour to win it, she’s been magnificent in training and she’ll be really confident so I think this could be he year.” Said Adam Hall about the Scottish women’s number 1 who will be hoping for success I her home nation.

Torrance then spoke about how important it is to have a big public tournament being held every year in their own back yard;

“To have a world class tournament here [in Glasgow] every year is amazing and gives us a great experience.
