Ibrox legends Michael Mols and Arthur Numan today said Rangers needed to turn to a man who knows the club in their search for a new manager.
Pedro Caixinha was sacked as manager of Rangers last month and as of yet, the search for a new man to take charge of the Ibrox Club has proved unsuccessful.
Many different names have been thrown around, from former players like Barry Ferguson and Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, to fresh meat like Billy Davies and Alan Pardew.
Former Rangers stars Michael Mols and Arthur Numan have had their say on who they would like to take charge of their old club.
Michael Mols, who played in Govan between 1999 and 2004, thinks that Rangers should turn to a man who has Rangers routes, but is currently the manager of one of Rangers’ rivals;
“Derek McInnes is the man that Rangers should be going for.
“He is a man who knows the club from the time he spent there and has also been doing a great job at Aberdeen”.
Derek McInnes has been the Aberdeen manager since 2013, but Mols is convinced he could make the step up and be the man to return Rangers to the top of Scottish football;
“He has what it takes. He’s been a great success at Aberdeen and Rangers are a club where a bigger budget will be available to him so he should do even better with them if he was given the chance.” Added Mols
Mols’ former teammate at Ibrox, Arthur Numan, shares the view that Rangers should turn to a man that knows the club. However, he feels that they should go for a man who he knows well and has already managed the Glasgow Giants.
“Dick Advocaat is the man who I think could revive this team. I know him well from my time as a player and I know how much he enjoyed his time at Rangers when he was manager there before.”
Dick Advocaat recently became available as a manger having left the Dutch national team after there failure to qualify for next year’s World cup in Russia.
“He brought us great success at Rangers in the late 90’s and we were the dominant team in the country back then. That is exactly the kind of man this team needs so that they Rangers can be the most dominant team in Scotland.
