Liam Fox: Hearts are in a ‘fantastic place’

COWDENBEATH manager Liam Fox believes Hearts are in a ‘fantastic place’ following the news that Ian Cathro will become the man to replace Robbie Neilson in the Tynecastle hotseat.

Ian Cathro was announced as Neilson’s replacement late last night- leaving his coaching duties at Newcastle to sign a three-and-half-year deal with the Jambos.

And Fox believes the 30-year-old is taking over a club on the rise thanks to the job done by his predecessor.

He said: “It’s an exciting time for Hearts.

“The new manager is coming in and inheriting a good squad with fantastic facilities.

“The club is in a fantastic place with the way Ann Budge has came in and taken control.

“It’s a great job for anybody to get.”

Fox worked under Neilson during his time as Hearts’ U17s coach and was delighted that his hard work is finally being recognised.

He stated: “I’m absolutely delighted for both him and his assistant Stevie.

“I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for them – and it’s probably one they couldn’t turn down.

“Robbie is a good friend of mine and I obviously worked with him for a good spell last year.

“Nobody probably sees the work and the hours that the two of them put in.

“But I’ve seen that first hand and he really deserves it.”
