Alloa vs Ayr United team news

By Tom Mackinnon

Ayr United travel to Alloa in what is a battle between League One’s two form teams.

Ian McCall’s side sit atop League One, three points clear of Raith Rovers and eight ahead of Jim Goodwin’s Alloa in third.

The Honest Men will be without Paddy Boyle and Jamie Adams.

Manager McCall said: “Adams is fit, I just don’t like playing him on astro-turf pitches and Paddy isn’t as bad as we thought but he will definitely miss the next couple of weeks,

“But on the plus side Chris Higgins comes back in, he’s a very important player for us. Brian Gilmour is back in and Alan Forrest is fit as well.”

McCall also commented on his side’s goal record, something he is very proud of: “Sixty-five goals in 21 games, it’s a hell of record. The most important thing is winning matches, something I have stressed to the players.

“Scoring goals doesn’t automatically mean you win prizes. Its great to score goals and I want to keep scoring goals but if you win 1-0 or 6-0 you still get three points.

Ayr travel to Recreation Park tomorrow with kick-off at 3pm.
