As the former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale makes her entrance to The Jungle via helicopter, the controversy that has been caused by the politician’s decision to take part in the TV show has yet to calm down.
The ITV reality show “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” decided to make an offer to the politician and she accepted. That decision triggered a reaction in the political world with many fellow MSPs and even the leadership of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, deeming it inappropriate.
However, there are people in the Party who are supportive of her decision and think that it might help the 36-year-old politician in the long run. Declan Mclean, the Chair of Strathclyde Labour Club, talked about what he makes of the situation and the reaction Ms Dugdale’s decision received from the public.
He said: “Initially, it was kind of a shocking reaction from a lot of people. I think its time is gone and they are coming around on what it could actually represent.”
Declan also commented on her decision to even take place in the TV show, adding:”Kezia wants to demonstrate the genuineness and the very human aspect, which is what we are often looking for in politicians these days. The kind of human nature, which is absolutely being represented by Kezia. I think that is probably the reason for her decision.”
An important aspect of this story is what the viewing audience will think of her during her participation in the TV show. On that, he stated that he is actually very excited to see the reaction of the general public and the cast and that he thinks it will be very positive. He added:”I think people will finally get to see a politician of very good nature and also a very talented politician. I think it will be quite exciting and very well received.”
When asked about the chances of Kezia Dugdale winning the reality show, the young Labour Party member said:”I’m 100 percent backing Kezia to be queen of the jungle”.
