TOMMY SHERIDAN has blasted Kezia Dugdale’s plan for the United Kingdom to become a federal state and devolve power to England as well as Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Sheridan said: “Kezia Dugdale is way behind the times and should wake up and smell the constitutional spirit in the air. And that is an independent Scotland, Wales and England.”
Scottish Labour Leader, Kezia Dugdale, set out plans to British Prime Minister Theresa May, which would see each of the nations in the union given powers to dictate domestic matters of their own.
Kezia Dugdale said: “This would mean a radical reshaping of our country along federal lines where Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the English regions take more responsibility for their own communities – but where we still have the protection of being part of the United Kingdom as a whole.”
This would be welcomed by some Unionists but one Labour Councillor said: “I agree with devolving more powers to local regions but more should be devolved down to local government.”
