DURING the season of goodwill, Larkhall’s Machan Trust has been stepping into the spirit of Christmas through its after school events with thanks to local business.
Project manager at the Lanarkshire Charity, Hazel Shaw, told uwsnewsroom they have held events with primary school children across Larkhall and Netherburn to help disadvanatged children enjoy the festive period this year.
Hazel said: “The local coffee shop, Aroma Café, has helped us by asking their customers to donate selection boxes or children’s toys that we can give to some of the most vulnerable children.
“We have also been having Christmas parties at all of our after school groups and giving out rucksacks that have been filled with gifts such as woollen hats, scarves and gloves.”
Hazel described her gratitude to all those who have helped throughout the year, including the businesses, who have played their part but said none of the work they do in the community could be possible if it were not for the volunteers who give up their time to help.
She added: “Our volunteers do so much for us and really help us engage with young people to help prevent negativity such as anti-social behaviour.”
