SCOTTISH football has had some nightmares before when it comes to money. Wages of football players might not be the same as they were before or even compared to south of the border however here is some of the best and worst players to receive a large wage in Scotland.
- Robbie Keane £65,000 per week Celtic
Spent half a season on loan to Celtic scoring goals and quickly became a hit with the fans.
- Henrik Larsson £40,000 per week Celtic
In the eyes of some of the younger Celtic supporters he is probably the greatest player they might tell you they have ever seen. 174 goals in 221 appearances says it all for the King of Kings.
- Tore Andre Flo £38,000 per week Rangers
Doesn’t get the greatest of respect from football fans in Scotland but Flo scored 29 goals in 53 appearances at the Ibrox club.
- Ronald De Boer £33,000 per week Rangers
Loved by the Ibrox support De Boer was at Rangers for four years, appearing 91 times and scoring 32 times.
- Andrei Kanchelskis £30,000 per week Rangers
Famed for teasing defenders by standing on the ball and one of few men to win the Premier League in England and Scotland since the formation of both modern day top Divisions.
- Chris Sutton £30,000 per week Celtic
Now a freelance pundit, Chris may have some strong words to say but his partnership with Henrik Larsson was proof his bark is nothing compared to his bite.
- Neil Lennon £30,000 per week Celtic
Now manager of Hibernian in the Scottish Championship Neil Lennon is no stranger to making sure his opponents know they are in a battle. With the wages he was on I’m sure his boss would tell you he was worth it as well.
- Paul Lambert £27,000 per week Celtic
A European cup winner and won the treble as captain of Celtic. Definitely one of the finest football players Scotland has ever produced.
- Scott Brown £25,000 per week Celtic
After the recent Celtic success in the league cup, only Lisbon Lion Billy Mcneill has lifted more trophies as captain than Scott Brown. Brown has been one of the best players in Scotland for a decade.
10.Rafael Scheidt £20,000 per week Celtic
Costing Celtic a transfer fee of five million pounds The Brazilian was seen as a possible superstar. Three appearances later Rafael left and joined Brazilian club Corinthians.Definitely not one to remind the Celtic fans of.
