Junior football team Larkhall Thistle may have narrowly missed out on the League Cup quarter-finals. However, the only way is up for the Lanarkshire team.
Despite that cup set-back, Chairman Chris Lenson, today told how he was already looking forward to their next challenge, with the draw for the Scottish Junior Cup taking place on Saturday.
Lenson said: “We played four matches in the league cup section, won three and lost one. We just missed out by a goal to go to the quarter finals.A 1-0 loss to Forth in a game where we missed a penalty which would have ultimately have seen us through, has left us disappointed, but we are heading in the right direction.”
Saturday sees the Jags away to Johnstone Burgh, but everyone involved with Thistle will have one eye on the Scottish Cup draw. We are looking for a home draw. Ideally a team that we can compete with, if not a big name so we can get a good gate.”
He added: “Hopefully we can push to go as far and as high as we can this year. To do that we need sustainable finance coming from our town. We cannot thank our sponsors enough.
“To compete with a team like Auchinleck we need a community behind us. That is what they have.”
