Make or break for Philippe Clement as Rangers take on French opposition Nice

By Gary Denver-Newall

The Europa League is back underway again for Rangers this Thursday as they travel to Nice, with Clement under major scrutiny for the recent form. Could this be the nail in the coffin for another Gers manager?

With the recent 1-1 draw to Dundee United many fans are asking for Philippe to be the latest of a long list of sacked managers, however it has to be stated that in the Europa League, Rangers’ form has been far from poor.

So far this campaign Clement has yet to lose away from home in Europe, those games being against Olympiacos and Malmö.

After playing against French side Lyon earlier this season the gulf of quality seemed to be the deciding factor as the visitors ultimately won 4-1. Many fans had seen enough and headed for an early exit as seen above.

Some have been calling for Clement’s head in recent weeks with the form on the pitch being simply not good enough and with the appointment of Nils Koppen as director of football and Patrick Stewart as CEO this has caused even more fans to question the clubs vision.

The Union Bears have officially announced plans for a protest for the next League game St Johnston, with the side currently 11 points behind league leaders Celtic and 8 points behind second place Aberdeen.
