With Celtic preparing to face Belgium side Club Brugge, in the UEFA Champions League Phase, a win could potentially put them on the brink of knock-out qualification.
Celtic will be looking to continue their European success this season with another memorable night at Celtic Park on Wednesday. Brendan’s boys currently sit at 15th in the new look champions league format, having amassed an impressive 7 points against the likes of RB Leipzig and UEFA Europa League Champions Atalanta. The Hoops are on track for the most successful European season in recent history with a win putting them in pole position for a last 16 play-off spot. Celtic’s opponents, this time out, are Belgium Pro League Champions, Club Brugge.
The Belgium football powerhouses have been in good form heading into the clash with Celtic, having won a domestic lead match, 7-0, in their most recent outing and they will be also looking to build on one of their most famous victories against Aston Villa. They are facing Scottish opponents for the first time since 1992. Brugge will have to play at their best if they are to get anything from the much-fancied Scottish champions.
Fan expectation has been through the roof after notable individual performances from the likes of Nicolas Kuhn who bagged a brace against his former side, German Giants, RB Leipzig. Now, pressure builds on Rodgers’ side as defeat could be disastrous for European ambitions beyond the league phase.
This result will be campaign defining as it may determine the momentum of Celtic’s season. A win against Brugge would certainly announce their arrival on the European stage once again.
