MILLIONS of Americans will be casting their votes today but what are they rushing to the polling stations for?
Abortion and immigration are two of the biggest talking points with Donald Trump planning to carry out the largest deportation in American history if elected.
Kamala Harris – on the other hand – has promised to eliminate the filibuster to restore the Roe v. Wade precedent on abortion.
At UWSnews we take a deep dive into what each candidate is offering.

As a first time runner, Harris, the democratic candidate has set high standards:
- Improve the standing of the middle class by reducing costs and increasing economic security
- Rent and homeownership
- Provide first-time buyers with up to $25,000 to help with down payments
- Build 3 million rental and affordable homes
- Small businesses
- Increase the startup expense tax deduction for new businesses from $5,000 to $25,000
- Create 25 million new business applications
- Healthcare
- Make permanent the Biden-Harris tax credit enhancements that are reducing health care premiums by an average of $800 a year for millions of Americans
- Increases taxes for the wealthy
- Better the education system
- Lower energy costs
- Tackle climate issues

Having already served a term, Trump, aims to build on his previous promises but with some new additions:
- Changes to the economy
- Add a tariff of 10% to 20% to all non-domestic goods sold in the country
- Add a 60% tariff on goods from China
- Phase out Chinese imports over a four-year time span
- Tax cuts across all classes
- End taxation on tips, overtime, Americans living overseas
- Education
- Make America the highest spending country per pupil on education
- Provide $10,000 per child tax-this would be free to homeschoolers
- Enable homeschoolers to have the same experiences as in-school pupils
- Climate and energy
- Leave the Paris climate accord for the second time
- Reduce energy costs by 50% within the first year
- Enable America to be the country with the lowest costing energy
Both candidates intend to tackle the country’s biggest and most pressing issues and regardless of whoever wins, the outcome of this election, commentators and the world know the landscape of America will change forever.
