Police are still seeking witnesses to a fatal road crash involving a Mercedes A-class car and a MAN box van that took place in the early hours of Monday (September 23) on the A737 between Howwood and Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire.
The initial emergency call was received at 3.10am and the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue service were alerted at 3.22 and 3.23am, respectively.
All three emergency services attended but a 59-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, a 33-year-old man and a 59-year-old man driving were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
Subsequent calls to Police Scotland around that time also reported six horses running loose on the A737 and it was later confirmed that four of the horses had died after being struck by vehicles.
Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the A737 on Monday morning around the time of the crash who either witnessed the crash take place or seen the horses running on the road. Anyone with dash-cam footage is also asked to please contact us as soon as possible.”
