Who will take the SWPL crown?

By Kiera Heppenstall

WITH the SWPL season entering its decisive stretch, fans are on the edge of their seats as Glasgow City, Rangers and Celtic preparing for the final months.

The top teams are separated by a only a handful of points this season making it an exciting season for fanss becoming one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory.

With Glasgow City stamping their authority at the top with 42 points, they are determined to hold on to the top spot until the very end of the season. However, this is not an easy task as clubs like Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Hibs are very close leaving no room for error.

With the second half of the season under way and the transfer window coming to an end, clubs are preparing for the home stretch. Rangers may have had a rocky start to the season, but they are showing signs of recovery, in touching distance to their in-form rivals.

Reigning champions, Hibs still have hope after managerial changes during the season and Glasgow giants’ Celtic cannot be discounted for either, as a club who has tasted success in recent years, they know what it takes at this level to win. And with underdogs Hearts climbing the table, not a single team can be complacent.

The SWPL has gathered momentum as pressure rises throughout clubs. Managers talk about belief and composure each week, with European football at stake which heightens the stakes for every team involved.

This season alone reflects SWPL growth and how standards have improved and decisive fixtures still to come it is clear the final destination of the league’s trophy is still unclear. Precisely why this SWPL title race is unmissable.
