THAT’S the thoughts of Bayern Munich fan, Marco Lindner, ahead of Celtic’s crucial Champions League knockout tie against the German Giants on Wednesday.
Celtic Park will be back under the lights tomorrow night for what could be an iconic fixture against the Bundesliga Leaders. Celtic are playing a Champions League knockout game for the first time since 2013 and hopes remain high within the fanbase that they can achieve an incredible result after a victory against Swiss team young boys.
Rodgers’ Bhoys have been handed a huge boost as star man Daizen Maeda is now available after his two-match suspension was rescinded late last night.
Maeda, who has scored 21 goals this season, in all competitions, will be a vital component to Celtic’s game plan, as he looks to use his world-class pressing to put the Bayern Munich players under-pressure from the off.
The German powerhouse will be no easy task for Celtic as they have an array of talent with the likes of world-class striker, Harry Kane.
When asked about whether he feels that Bayern players would be up to the task, Marco said “I know that the players are looking forward to the atmosphere in paradise. Coman and Kimmich were there in 2017 and are still enthusiastic.”
This is a fixture that will be no stranger to both sets of fans, as in 2017, Celtic lost to a narrow 2-1 score line. For the fans who are unfamiliar with the Munich outfit, Marco believes that Austrian midfielder, Konrad Laimer, could be one to watch.
The Celts will be buoyant off the back of a great European campaign, and that Bayern are not coming into the game in the best of form in Europe after recent defeats. Celtic will be looking to exploit any weaknesses within the European giants rear guard. Marco highlighted where he believes Celtic could take advantage:
He added: “I think the Bhoys in Green have a very good chance to win in paradise. With these incredible great fans, much is possible. Our defence is at the moment far from normal form. See the games against Rotterdam, Aston Villa or Barcelona. We won only against Donetsk away… If Celtic goes 1-0 on leadership and then continues to play bravely offensively, then I think it will be very difficult for Bayern.”
