The recent flurry of winter weather in parts of Scotland has given people still looking for gift ideas a scary reminder that Christmas is only just next month.

The football card in Scotland was obliterated by ‘Storm Bert’ last Saturday, with twelve matches across all SPFL divisions called off. A further 6 games had kickoffs delayed amid the chaos.

The sub-zero temperatures felt in this country over the weekend seem to have now came back up to acceptable levels, unlike Christmas gift marketing from Scottish football clubs.

Links are regularly being seen throughout social media as the festive season gathers momentum and UWS News have compiled a list of 5 gifts that could warm the Christmas stocking of Scottish football fans in your family.

The obligatory Christmas jumpers and calendars are available with most Scottish clubs, but for this list we have focused on items that offer a bit more originality.

First of all we go to Glasgow’s big two;

Rangers have a personalised club brick available through the Rangers Youth Development Company, these offer a level of longevity that other Christmas gifts will find hard to surpass.

They can be ordered in small, medium or large depending on your message and after purchase the bricks are installed into ‘a dedicated area’ of the Broomloan Road stand at Ibrox Park.

On their X (formerly Twitter) page, Celtic have again used a clever marketing video to promote Christmas sales, which focuses on a Grandfather (Joe) and his Granddaughter in a ‘Scrooge’ theme.

Firstly, Joe is seen chatting with his Granddaughter about thoughts of his late wife from a memories box, he’s then visited by Celtic players who take him on a journey, taking him to Celtic Park and what seems like a dream of him ‘playing’ in the Celtic team, his late wife is then seen sitting in the stands waving.

It finishes with ‘club legend’ Henrik Larsson signing a copy of his new book ‘Henrik’ (a must for any Celtic fan) with ”Thanks for the assist”.

Dundee United have a comprehensive selection of gifts in their club shop, with the pick of these being a club smart watch. As well as having other features, the watch allows fans to keep a track of their heart rates during the tense Dundee derbies that are now becoming regular fixtures on Tayside again.

Aberdeen fans could be forgiven for thinking that more silverware is on the way, with some top performances under new manager Jimmy Thelin.

Their club shop have the retro 1983 ‘Cup Winners Cup’ final shirt on sale and fans might want to fuel their trophy desires by getting a gift that symbolises one of their greatest ever triumphs.

Kilmarnock have single and double duvet sets adorning the club crest on offer, which should go nicely with dreams of a return to Europe for fans of Ayrshire’s Premier club.
