Celtic face tough European tie in Germany

Celtic have made the trip to Germany to make up half of tonight’s mouthwatering UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 tie against Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion, more commonly known as Signal Iduna Park.

Last season’s competition finalists boast an array of fresh faces from their Wembley heartbreak in May including a new spine within their line-up, a new head coach and a new formation.

Celtic’s well-oiled unbeaten train may come to a holt against one of Europe’s elites but Dortmund head coach Nuri Sahin admits his players shouldn’t underestimate his former Liverpool manager’s team, as they’re “no underdogs”.

Celtic’s domestic dominance and the thrashing of Slovan Bratislava gives the Hoops fans confidence going into the game but Dortmund fans will also back their players despite being in an ‘transitional period’.

Glasgow Borussen (Scottish Borussia Dortmund supporter’s group) member, Graeme Marshall believes his team will take all three points stating: “It’s a 2-1 home win, (Karim) Adeyemi and (Serhou) Guirassy with the goals.”

Scouting and Analysis Expert Writer, Stewart Ross, identified Guirassy as one of the main threats to Celtic’s vastly impressive defensive record this season, and said: “He’s a top centre forward, he’s big, strong, quick. He’s got the whole package.”

Guirassy scored 30 goals in as many appearances last season, while playing for Stuttgart, before his move to Dortmund.

Ross believes Dortmund are to be got at by Celtic but underlies the difference in quality of opposition, he said: “Fantastic start to the season but this is by far the highest level of opposition Celtic have played this season.”

Celtic and Brendan Rodgers have a massive task on their hands as the club looks for their first Champions League away win in seven years.
