Christmas sales are underway

As Christmas approaches, more and more shops on the streets are putting up signs for Christmas sales and discounts. For retailers or online sellers, Christmas sales are as important a part of their sales revenue as Black Friday.

Yang, a student living in Glasgow, is looking forward to the opening of the Christmas sales.

“The sale season I look forward to most of the year apart from Black Friday is Christmas. The sales are really important to me.”

Yang is an international student who works part-time to minimise financial stress whilst completing her studies.

Yang is being interviewed

“Due to the impact caused by the cost of living crisis, rents in Glasgow have increased and I need to budget less on other living expenses. I’ll make a list of what I need to buy in advance and wait for the Christmas sales to come around. Choosing deals wisely like I did is a good idea for some financially struggling groups. She said this.

“I purchased a backpack and got a 50 per cent discount, for which I am happy. I will probably wait for a better deal to make a purchase after that.”

Nessie is a staff who is working in this off-line shop

Nessie, a community group shop worker at the High street, Ayr, expresses some of her views on Christmas discounts.

Actually Christmas sales could be busy or quiet depends on the weather. Yesterday is very very quiet but today is been better because of the good weather.”

Many shops have extended their Christmas discount season as a result. During this period, shops also attracted customers through better discounts and new products.

Just as she said,“People are now very careful for what they spend and when they spend.” Longer seasons gives people more choices.

The shop where Nessie works

“The Christmas sales used to be very short, many shops would only have a week’s worth of events, or even 24 hours of crazy deals. But now Christmas sales can start a month in advance.”

She also said that the Christmas sales can use the festive atmosphere to encourage people to buy goods, and merchants can make a profit from the event. The extended cycle of events is also a way for businesses to cope with the market.

Even though people are spending less this year, the growing vibe as Christmas approaches is awakening people’s desire to spend money, and shops are looking for economic benefits in new ways.

  1. Yes
Wow, it’s great to hear about the excitement for Christmas sales and how they are important for both shoppers and businesses. I’m glad to see that Yang is able to benefit from the discounts and that Nessie is noticing increased foot traffic due to the good weather. It’s interesting to learn that Christmas sales now start a month in advance. I’m curious, have you noticed any specific strategies that shops are using to attract customers and encourage them to buy goods during the extended Christmas sales season? That’s a wonderful perspective on the impact of Christmas sales! Can you provide any examples of specific strategies that shops are using to attract customers and encourage them to make purchases during the extended Christmas sales season?
