The Scottish Government scrapping of peak time rail fares for the next six months a trials as a part of attracting customers back to the rail journey in post covid era as the usage of ScotRail by people were affected by covid19 SOPs.
Alex Haynes Managing Director of the ScotRail said “They are attracting more people back onto the railway compared to pre covid in the peak. We have got only 73% of the customers that we had prior to the pandemic. So by giving customers cheaper, simpler fares all day, we can invite more customers and also can deliver a great deal to our existence customers”.
Scottish government wants us to ditch cars and travel by trans as green progress sign as it will reduces CO2 emissions and we’ll have a green and safe environment as many experts calls it environmentally friendly initiative.

Transport Minister Fiona Hyslop calls it a great initiative. She hinted we will have to wait and see if it attracts people to the rail usage for commuting and then we will extend it perhaps.
Passengers and customers on the hand appreciate the move as it is economically beneficial for them. They are happy because it is the peak time where they spent more money on rail journey.
